Austin Isaac has taught orchestra at the elementary and secondary levels in both public and private schools in Virginia. He received his B.M, cum laude, from James Madison University with a concentration in instrumental education. He has been commissioned and has written works for string orchestra, full orchestra, and choir. In May of 2014, Austin conducted the premier of his full orchestral work “Choralis, A Symphonic Sketch” with the Manassas Symphony Orchestra.
As a double bassist, Austin has been an active performer in a variety of orchestras in the Northern Virginia area and as a clinician. He has co-presented on improvisation in the instrumental classroom at the Virginia Music Educators Conference and has adjudicated at Virginia state orchestra assessment. Austin is currently the lead orchestra director at Lake Braddock Secondary School in Burke, Virginia, where he oversees a robust strings program from grades 7-12.
