When arranging a familiar holiday favorite, the challenge is always to hear it in a completely new way. As more and more versions of these well-known classics flood the market every year, it becomes harder to see each tune in a new light. This setting takes the popular Ukrainian Bell Carol and uses it to create a gentle presentation in the style of a lyric lullaby that truly reflects the peaceful and most appealing sounds of the season.

This is a colorful adaptation of the well-know Christmas favorite, O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree. The time signature has been changed to 4/4 and a grooving rock beat has been added to give it a modern upbeat feel that will brighten holiday programming. The low brass gets the opportunity to play the melody, while woodwinds counter with musical fragments of Joy to the World. A spirited addition to winter programs!

Christmas on the Thames is a fantasy of English Christmas carols circling around the beloved melody I Saw Three Ships. It reflects the buzz of activity both on the streets of London and on board a schooner bound for port loaded with cargo and gifts. Decorations are put in the shop windows; the aroma of warm chestnuts and puddings fill the air; carolers sing and wassail is drunk. The piece culminates with the ship pulling up to the dock to the sounds of celebratory cheers and ringing church bells. Merry Christmas, guv'nor! 

Written to be a crowd favorite, the ever-popular John Philip Sousa march Stars and Stripes Forever is combined with the holiday favorite Jingle Bells for a clever and playable setting for the holidays. This may be the easiest and most accessible setting of "Sousa meets Santa,"  with the classic  melody, countermelody and bass line. It’s a fun combination of two well-known melodies for holiday concerts that will be a favorite of both students and audiences and is sure to be a home run for your program!

This is the last composition from the pen of the talented composer and music educator, Nancy Seward.  It is based on traditional English Christmas carols.

A medley of three favorite Christmas carols in a rich setting for developing bands. A bright opening fanfare introduces the piece and transitions into the lilting and tuneful The Wassail Song which then slows to a lyrical We Three Kings that features both woodwind and brass choirs. Good Wenceslas brings the piece to a triumphant close with a few quotes of additional carols that add to the festive and joyful atmosphere.

One of the most loved Christmas songs, I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day is presented in a new setting which intersperses snippets of Jingle Bells and Joy to the World. The audience will want to sing along with this great seasonal classic.

Lo How a Rose E'er Blooming and Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring are blended together in this lyric work for concert band. The simple and moving beauty of each hymn complements the other as motifs are traded back and forth before arriving at a triumphant climax. Appropriate for winter or holiday concerts, contests and festivals, or any occasion that calls for a lush ballad, it's sure to add a memorable touch of elegance to your next concert.

The well-known song Greensleeves was written in 15^th century England, quite possibly by King Henry VIII himself. The wistful quality of this legend is captured here by the use of lush harmonies and a rhythmic ostinato that gets transferred to different colors within the ensemble. With a hauntingly beautiful ending, this unique arrangement will be the highlight of programs at Christmas and throughout the year as well.

Your audience is always receptive to a fresh setting of this beloved Christmas carol during the holiday season.  Franz Grüber's familiar melody is surrounded with new and contemporary harmonies in this beautiful, flowing arrangement for developing bands. After building to a glorious climax, the music subsides into a quiet, soothing ending.  The limited technical demands allow for a successful performance with a minimum of rehearsal time.

American pop culture is full of examples of the merging and melding of different artistic styles that end up with surprising and entertaining results. This work for young band is no exception as the timeless music of Tchaikovsky often heard at the holidays trades in ballet shoes for guiros and timbales. Many of the original rhythms of the ballet music have been altered to convey an authentic-sounding samba dance style. Holding true to the form of the original work, this setting of Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy presents a decidedly different twist on a holiday classic, allowing students to learn to play a wonderful Latin dance style.
