Cleverly written, this original piece includes melodic fragments of The Star-Spangled Banner that emerge throughout, constantly hinting at the famous anthem before being absorbed into the swirling melodic lines that resonate throughout the piece. The familiar holiday melodies of Joy to the World; Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella; The First Noel; I Saw Three Ships and hints of others are skillfully overlapped to create an enthralling and energetic seasonal presentation. "Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth..." Inspired by the poem High Flight, this work takes musical flight with sweeping woodwinds and mallets soaring above the cinematic melodic statement by brass.  The highly rhythmic melody soars upward to the middle, lyrical section which seems to float effortlessly through the upper reaches of the sky. As the sustained expressive melody reaches its musical apex, it reunites with the opening material for a swift and breathtaking finish.

Dedicated to the Columbia (Missouri) Community Band, Keith House, conductor, this medley of familiar Celtic tunes includes British Grenadiers; Annie Laurie; Barbara Allen and Scotland the Brave. Each song is clearly stated, then effectively developed for a strong program selection.

A memorable old Irish jig called Road to Lisdoonvarna is the basis of this piece for young bands. Beginning lyrically with a simple statement, it gradually adds more instruments as it builds to the sprightly middle section. With the full ensemble playing the tuneful melody and the driving Irish rhythms in the percussion section, you hear all the color and flair that's characteristic of great Irish folk music.

Centrifuge was written for the 2015 Southeastern Louisiana Middle School Band Camp and its director, Paul Frechou. This piece portrays a centrifuge vigorously spinning with no sign of slowing down or stopping. An allegro tempo is used to fuel the drive and impetus throughout this energetic musical depiction of a whirling perpetual motion dynamo. The opening theme is first presented by clarinets playing in their lowest register as the machine starts up and begins to build up speed. Underlying the entire work is a pulsating percussion section which provides the thrust and forward motion along with various syncopated rhythms contributed by the winds.  

Commissioned by the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association, this distinctive work for developing band is highlighted by two contrasting sections. A quiet opening is flavored with percussion sounds reminiscent of Native American music, while lyric woodwinds float above, weaving expressively hypnotic melodic lines. This spellbinding effect is then broken by a joyous and spirited celebration that unfolds in a delightfully uplifting manner, closing the work in a grand and joyous fashion.    

A musical adventure that takes the listener on a wild chase through history as it tells the exciting tale of this legendary Robin Hood-like bandit from the Old West. The colorful and high-energy writing incorporates extensive percussion effects that will have you experience the all the thrill of the chase, complete with the sound of a rattlesnake and the crack of the gunshot that ended this chapter of California lore.

When arranging a familiar holiday favorite, the challenge is always to hear it in a completely new way. As more and more versions of these well-known classics flood the market every year, it becomes harder to see each tune in a new light. This setting takes the popular Ukrainian Bell Carol and uses it to create a gentle presentation in the style of a lyric lullaby that truly reflects the peaceful and most appealing sounds of the season.

The holiday season is a very special time of year, highlighted by the lights, food, decorations, and especially the music. This arrangement takes a beloved holiday classic and gives it a bright and shiny new coat of paint. Primarily based on O Come, All Ye Faithful in a delightfully spirited new way, it includes parts of We Three Kings; Ukrainian Bell Carol and I Saw Three Ships sprinkled in to add to the festivities. The perfect opening selection for your holiday concert.

This is a colorful adaptation of the well-know Christmas favorite, O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree. The time signature has been changed to 4/4 and a grooving rock beat has been added to give it a modern upbeat feel that will brighten holiday programming. The low brass gets the opportunity to play the melody, while woodwinds counter with musical fragments of Joy to the World. A spirited addition to winter programs!

Christmas on the Thames is a fantasy of English Christmas carols circling around the beloved melody I Saw Three Ships. It reflects the buzz of activity both on the streets of London and on board a schooner bound for port loaded with cargo and gifts. Decorations are put in the shop windows; the aroma of warm chestnuts and puddings fill the air; carolers sing and wassail is drunk. The piece culminates with the ship pulling up to the dock to the sounds of celebratory cheers and ringing church bells. Merry Christmas, guv'nor! 

One hundred and fifty years ago, one of the greatest events in our nation's history was taking place, shaping the future of our country.  Using popular songs from that era, the composer gives us a musical portrait of that time; tuneful and playable, this medley functions as both a commemorative selection as well as a stirring concert work.

One of the most intriguing mysteries of all times surrounds this fabled body of water in a land rich in legend and lore. Imagine being on the shores of Loch Ness, part of a large group of peasants having a party,  dancing while  accompanied by the tuneful sounds of bagpipes and flutes.  At the height of the revelries, the huge, shadowy shape of the Loch Ness monster rises out of the water, causing everyone to flee in a panic.  After gathering at another location, still on the shore of the loch, the dance begins again.  Another chapter added to the legend as everyone wonders: will they be left in peace or will the monster return?

This programmatic work depicts a dark and intense conflict and conquest of a fierce enemy force. Emphatic brass lines, running woodwind lines and unrelenting percussive parts create the intense atmosphere of the impending clash. The mysterious introduction is given an ominous tone by the dampened pulse of the bass drum, resembling the timbre of a persistent heartbeat. The forces then collide, followed by the defeat of the enemy and a triumphant finish that ends on an assertive and victorious flourish.
