Three Dances for Baritone Saxophone and Piano was commissioned by saxophone artist Lynn Klock, a celebrated patron of new music. The choice of baritone saxophone provides a masculine, full-bodied voice for this set of pieces. The movements retain some of the rhythmic character and spirit of their dance names with the addition of a contemporary pitch language and the extended artistry available from modern instruments and performers. Includes: "Quickstep-Romp," a challenging, marchlike movement with a snappy motive contrasted with scale passages; "Air," a graceful, contrasting song in a moderate triple meter; and "Hornpipe-Rondo," a lively dance with a returning refrain that keeps the movement bounding vigorously forward.
Drawing inspiration from some of the greatest melodies in music history, composer Todd Harris has fashioned this collection that will quickly become a repertoire favorite among flutists for years to come. Lyric gems from J.S. Bach to Chopin through Debussy and Faure have been carefully chosen to showcase the expressive qualities of the instrument. A stellar volume for the soloist, this is made even more appealing with the inclusion of a second flute part from Harris' own hand. These are moments of breathtaking beauty that are welcome in the studio, recital, concert or adjudications for the developing artist.
Published in 2016 from an original manuscript, this stately work is scored for four trombones, euphonium and tuba. Presented in two brief movements: 1. Fanfare / Andante and 2. Allegro. This is an effective yet accessible work for the low brass ensemble with lyric melodies soaring over a driving ostinato, plus a contrasting fugal section that builds to a thrilling finish.
The tuba performer's capabilities with range, flexibility, lyricism and technical mastery are beautifully showcased in this effective work.
Artist level fantasia for tuba with piano or string orchestra accompaniment. A fantasia in the finest sense that displays the true artistic qualities of the performer.
Unaccompanied flute solo. A challenging and rewarding work for the accomplished soloist.
The small boat floating on a clear lake is captured elegantly in this transcription of Debussy's serene work. The harmonic colors and long melodic lines are absolutely enthralling.
One of Debussy's most endearing works is carefully transcribed for clarinet choir in this charming arrangement. Scored for six independent parts and liberal divisi, it requires at least one contra instrument and a jaunty section sound to bring Debussy's score to life.
One of Mozart's most sparkling overtures rescored for clarinet choir. A tour-de-force for the low clarinets!
In five movements: Prelude, Sarabande, Pavane, Blues, Rigadoon.
A work in five movements from one of the most significant composers of his day. March; Elegy; Waltz; Ballad and Scherzo.
A complete rescoring of all four movements of Mozart's delightful work. Andante; Minuetto; Polonaise; Presto assai.
