Wingert-Jones Publications is pleased to present:
Gilbert and Sullivan enthusiasts know the story of the iconic pair and their first collaborative work, Thespis or The Gods Grown Old. The libretto survived, but the music was lost, except for two individual pieces that can be verified as Sullivan's work from the original score.
The challenge was to complete the opera in two full acts, keeping Gilbert's libretto and Sullivan's existing music. Bruce Montgomery authentically recreated the quintessential style with his own musical score that premiered at the Thespis centenary in 1971.
With an appearance at the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in England, the work received critical acclaim and enthusiastic recognition by an international audience.
Become a part of the story by bringing this delightful comedy to your community. Vocal scores can be purchased from your favorite music retailer, and a full orchestration is available on rental directly from Wingert-Jones.
